Hailed in reviews as a truly skilled, inspirational and mighty force — German rock musician, free jazz-drummer, artist, frontman (singer and drummer) of the German Krautrock band, Guru Guru, visits Auckland and Wellington to play solo sets and collaborate with some local legends.
Best known for his work with Guru Guru, Neumeier also maintains several side projects such as Tiere die Nacht and Gurumania with Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps and solo performances. Neumeier has lived in both his native Germany and Japan. A brief glance at some of the numerous bands and artists Neumeier has collaborated with reflects he has shared his life between these two countries and, also, that he actively embraces playing with innovative musicians who have varied areas of interest and expertise.
Some of the musicians Neumeier has collaborated with include Uchihashi Kazuhisa, Yoshida Tatsuya, Jojo Hiroshige, Kawabata Makoto, Dieter Möbius, Harmonia, Hans-Karsten Raecke, Irène Schweizer, Peter Brötzmann, Sonny Sharrock, Luigi Archetti and Krautrock great, Damo Suzuki. He has also regularly worked with Japanese jam and noise bands Acid Mothers Temple and Hijokaidan.
